The SOS Global Hackathon helps Blockchain help the World

The CryptoChicks have made the pivot to virtual events with their Planet Wide Share our Strength (SOS) Hackathon in a very short amount of time. The event is in partnership the DAOStack, a collaborative coder network. The multi week virtual event starts with a keynote from Ethereum founder Vitalik Buterin on May 29th and then the fun begins.

Things have really been different since the pandemic began. I haven't been to any parties, gatherings, or crypto events for a couple of months. The small part of my day where I don't communicate through my screen has been replaced with hours of virtual events from home. Almost all of the event creators on our platform have postponed their events or moved them online for the time being.

One of my Canadian partners on the East Coast, the CryptoChicks, put on amazing blockchain events and always focus on inclusivity and togetherness, so when the pandemic shut down their in-person events and they manifested the brilliant idea for the Share our Strength Global Hackathon virtual event, I really wanted to learn more and do my part to help see success.

I managed to book an interview the Founder of CryptoChicks, Elena Sinelnikova, to ask her a few questions about creating inclusivity during a time of social distancing and how the Share our Strength Hackathon will manage to solve real world crisis problems.

Here's hoping we all as event attendees create great ideas that bring solutions that we can apply to our local communities, right here right now. I want to emphasize that the event is open to all genders, all countries and all technologies. As well, if you lack coding or technical skills you can still participate and the event has additional awards for the top business ideas, diversity & inclusivity and more.

As an attendee you can also participate in a vote, using blockchain, to decide the hackathon winners. Yes to decentralization!

Now more than ever is the time for the crypto community to get behind a greater cause and showcase blockchain related solutions when the world needs it most. Though solving real world problems using blockchain tech is a prize in itself, they're also raising a $100,000 prize pool for the winners of the Hackathon!
