Can the credit/debit card payment system be decentralized?

Graft is a new cryptocurrency that aims at creating a decentralized debit/credit card payment system. Graft will simplify the usage of multiple cryptocurrencies as payment options at points-of-sale.
Back in 2009, in response to the market crash of the previous year, Satoshi Nakamoto published a white paper entitled, “Bitcoin: A Peer-To-Peer Electronic Cash System”. The goal was to create a payment system not dominated by banks. Since then, Bitcoin has exploded. But being the first of its kind, it did come with some issues, namely slow processing time.

Since then, thousands of other cryptocurrencies have been created, all inspired by bitcoin. Some have strayed from the original purpose of bitcoin and reached other sectors and industries. But others, such as Graft, are carrying on the mission set out back in 2009.

Graft is a new cryptocurrency designed to work and flow in the same way that credit and debit cards work. This familiarity will help the adoption of Graft as a mainstream payment platform be easier and faster.

It’s a payment system, but instead of being centralized due to banks, it’s completely decentralized. Based on the blockchain, Graft is a global and open-source payment gateway for both merchants and buyers. This will dramatically cut down on costs.

Now, merchants will be able to natively accept any cryptocurrency at the point of sale. This is advantageous for merchants because of the high credit card fees that they have to pay every time a card is used. Additionally, the transactions are instantaneous, so merchants get their funds without having to wait.

Consumers will be able to use their favorite crypto token as a form of payment. This isn’t new, but it offers potentially lower fees. Currently, using crypto at the point of sale is cumbersome. There can be high exchange fees, transactions can be slow, and you have to manage multiple wallets for all the different cryptocurrencies. Graft makes this all as easy as using a debit card. Plus, there are no fees that have to be paid by the user.

Graft operates on a mobile application consisting of a multicurrency wallet and a helpful Graft tool named cryptofind. The app is available for both Apple and Android.
