CEX.IO warns against fraudulent activity conducted in company’s name

The online digital currency trading platform wrote that their customers have been getting calls from a “so-called CEX.IO call center number.” The callers claim to be able to provide services to them, in return for a fee. The company has described these calls as fraud and has firmly denied having any links whatsoever to them.

CEX.IO recently released a statement warning their users against scammers who are using the exchange’s name to mislead clients in order to access their personal data and steal funds.

The online digital currency trading platform wrote that their customers have been getting calls from a “so-called CEX.IO call center number.” The callers claim to be able to provide services to them, in return for a fee. The company has described these calls as fraud and has firmly denied having any links whatsoever to them.

The company further asserted that they are not associated with any of the CEX.IO support phone numbers promoted on the internet and that they would never charge their customers an additional fee to answer their queries or resolve issues. The exchange simply does not cooperate with any third party for support services.

“CEX.IO has nothing to do with white labeling, paid phone numbers for customer support, or any partners claiming to assist the users with faster query processing,” states the company’s blog post.

Users are further provided three of the exchange’s official websites – blog.cex.io, support.cex.io, cex.io – where they can find detailed information regarding the firm’s problem-solving services. Customers are advised not to trust any news or announcement stated on any website other than these. Per the document, the official Twitter and Facebook accounts of CEX.IO can also be accessed to learn correct information about the activities of the trading platform.

Some customers have been deceived by callers claiming to solve issues “faster” than the company’s own problem solving team. Released on November 17th, the exchange’s statement has assured customers that only CEX.IO official representatives would be able to solve their problems. Customers were warned not to trust any caller or support service claiming to be an official CEX.IO customer service provider charging a fee for resolving issues..

Clients are strongly advised not to reveal their personal data to any website or outside individual that claims to be a CEX.IO official other than the ones specified by the company itself. They are further warned against “phishing, spoofing, and identity theft” as their dangers are always present on the internet.

It is important for CEX.IO users to follow the exchange’s advice, as the company has clearly stated at the end of their statement that they would not be held responsible for any losses that a client may suffer in case of overlooking the provided warnings.
