Coinbase adds 100,000 users in less than 24 hours

The trading platform now boasts over 12 million users.
The popular cryptocurrency trading platform, Coinbase, just added 100,000 new users in less than 24 hours. This new record is thought to have been encouraged by the CME Group announcing their intention to implement Bitcoin futures before the end of the year.

Bloomberg reported that the new statistics have been gathered by the prominent entrepreneur and portfolio managers from Altana Digital Currency Fund, Alistair Milne. Milne sifted through website data in order to find the statistics and has confirmed that Coinbase currently has 12 million registered users. More are likely to register considering Bitcoin’s exponential growth. Since the start of the year, two million new users started engaging with the cryptocurrency worldwide. The growth can also be seen in the price of Bitcoin as earlier this week, Bitcoin bypassed the $7,000 mark.

After CME Group announced its latest plans, the Bitcoin price lunged forward within hours. The fact that a prominent firm such as CME incorporated Bitcoin futures into its infrastructure is a strong indication to many that the once-obscure cryptocurrency is becoming more and more accepted by the international community.

Earlier this year, Coinbase, set up a $100 million investment contract which included several investors. This contract secured the company a $1 billion valuation and gave Coinbase the status of “Bitcoin Unicorn.”
