Bithumb Global is the South Korean global-facing crypto exchange. It supports trading in over 100 assets, advanced features that befit a competitive crypto exchange in 2020 such as margin trading and staking, and advertises above $100M in daily volume.
The User Experience in Bithumb Global's site is great; the site is quick to load and easy to navigate, sign up is a fast process that takes only a few minutes; that is, if you will not immediately get the verification code to your spam box, like we did.
Performance is OK, with many market aggregators reporting that Bithumb Global's actual trading volume is orders of magnitude lower than what it publishes, signifying there may be a lot of wash trading at the exchange and not much real volume.
Features-wise, Bithumb Global has many of them, and they are well executed. Seasoned traders will find a margin trading interface very familiar (almost too familiar) to the one used on Binance, the option to stake their crypto holding to benefit from certain rewards and several other features.Bithumb Global's team is very hard if not impossible to find. They make an effort to hide the team from the public and from their users for reasons unknown. The only place we could get information about the team was on LinkedIn, where their profiles were also inconsistent and half empty, making it a very hard task to assess their competence in handling user funds.
Finally, Bithumb Global's major issue is Trust. The exchange was hacked - not once, not twice, but three times - meaning they failed to learn the error of their ways in handling user funds more than once. This immediately raises red flags in our assessment, and personally, we would refrain from trading on any exchange that displays such lack or respect for user funds - no matter what score they received in other categories.
To conclude, Bithumb Global is a large exchange, at least by the trading volumes that they report, and easy to use. However, there is a dark cloud over the exchange - the fact it was hacked three times already - and no one guarantees it won't happen again.
